Czech Rebel Lawmakers Insist on No Tax Increases, Impuls Reports

A group of lawmakers from the Czech ruling coalition opposes any increases in taxes as part of government measures aimed at cutting the budget deficit, Radio Impuls reported, citing deputy Petr Tluchor.

Six lawmakers from Premier Petr Necas’s Civic Democratic Party, including Tluchor, joined the opposition on Sept. 5 and voted against a government bill that included raising both sales-tax rates and introduction of a new tax rate for highest earners.
