Egypt is preparing to invite companies to tender for the import of between 1 and 1.5 billion cubic meters of natural gas daily, Al Mal reported citing Osama Kamal, the Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources.
Brochures setting out the details of the tender will be available once the announcement is made either on Thursday or Friday, the newspaper reported.
The winner will be responsible for importing gas and supplying it to Egypt’s network, while the ministry will handle transporting the gas within the country, Kamal said.
Egypt plans to import gas to meet demand from power, cement and steel plants, the newspaper reported.
