Mexican authorities killed an alleged lieutenant in the Sinaloa drug cartel, Milenio newspaper reported, citing the attorney general of the state from which the organized crime group draws its name.
Manuel Torres Felix, known as “el M-1” or “el Ondeado,” was killed in a confrontation between gunmen and the army, according to the newspaper, citing Marco Antonio Higuera Gomez.
Local authorities say the killing occurred about 2 a.m. near the town of Oso Viejo, Milenio reported. The newspaper said that Torres Felix was presumed to be a lieutenant of Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman, Mexico’s most-wanted drug lord.
