October 01, 2012

Yandex NV (YNDX:US), Russia’s largest Internet- search engine, is starting an online store to sell applications for devices powered by Google Inc. (GOOG:US)’s Android operating system, Kommersant reported.

The store will sell 40,000 applications for which Yandex acquired the licenses, and the company will get a share of revenues, the newspaper said citing unidentified people. The branded version of Yandex.Store will be installed on Android- powered devices from the fourth quarter, it said.

Yandex may also present its long-awaited debut Web-browser today to help it compete with Google, Kommersant said.
