Kuwait Deploys Guards on Oil Tankers to Fight Piracy, KUNA Says

Kuwait Oil Tanker Co. started to use armed guards aboard its oil and natural gas tankers to protect against pirates, the state-run Kuwait News Agency reported, citing Chairman and Managing Director Bader Alkhashti.

KOTC agreed with security-service providers to deploy guards trained to handle dangerous situations, Alkhashti said, according to the report today. The company has 24 tankers of various capacities and will start building six more ships in 2014, he said.
