U.K. stocks resumed an advance, sending the FTSE 100 Index up 0.4 percent to 5,803.86 at 3:05 p.m. in London.

The gauge has swung between gains and losses more than 10 times today before the Federal Reserve releases a statement on monetary policy after the close of trading.
