South Africa Beats England by 7 Wickets in Opening Twenty20 Game

South Africa beat England by seven wickets in their opening Twenty20 cricket match at Chester-le- Street in Durham.

Jacques Kallis was 48 not out and JP Duminy scored an unbeaten 47 as South Africa reached its target of 119 with one over remaining. The two closed out the match with a 90-run partnership.

Earlier, South Africa restricted England to 118-7 after winning the toss and putting the host into bat. Johan Botha took 2-19 and Robin Petersen was 2-27, while opener Craig Kieswetter top-scored for England with 25.

The three-game series continues in Manchester in two days. South Africa is No. 1 in the International Cricket Council’s Twenty20 rankings, while England is the defending T20 world champion.
