KazMunaiGaz National Co., the Kazakh state-run power company, plans to be the operator of an oilfield in the Caspian Sea’s Kashagan project, Deputy Chief Executive Officer Kurmangazy Iskaziyev said today, according to Interfax.
KazMunaiGaz, a partner in the Kashagan venture, expects to take the lead in the Kalamkas-More oilfield, Iskaziyev told a conference, Interfax reported. The field’s commercial discovery will be formally announced next month, the news service cited Iskaziyev as saying. Kazakh Oil and Gas Minister Sauat Mynbayev confirmed talks on operating the field, Interfax reported.
