Plans for the world’s biggest offshore wind farm off the Scottish coast were submitted yesterday, the Scotsman said, citing developers EDP Renewables and Repsol SA

The windfarm, which will be 12 miles off Caithness in the Moray Firth, will have 300 turbines and cover 114 square miles, the Edinburgh-based newspaper said. It will generate 1,500 megawatts of electricity and provide electricity for one million homes, the Scotsman said.

Construction of the wind farm, which will cost 4.5 billion pounds, is scheduled to start in 2015 and be completed by 2020, the newspaper said.
