A tsunami warning was declared after an earthquake struck 484 miles east-southeast of Manila, and 91 miles east of Guiuan, Samar in the Philippines. The government ordered evacuations to take place in six provinces on the eastern seaboard.

The earthquake had a preliminary magnitude of 7.6, revised from 7.9, according to the U.S. Geological Survey’s Earthquake Hazards Program.

The tsunami warning is in effect for regions including the Philippines and Indonesia, according to a statement from the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center.

The quake struck at about 8:47 p.m. local time at a depth of about 20.5 miles, according to a report from the U.S. Geological Survey.
