West Africa Union Lends Guinea-Bissau $28.5 Million for Programs

The West African Economic and Monetary Union is lending Guinea-Bissau, the country governed by a military-backed transitional authority, 15 billion CFA francs ($28.5 million), Ibraima Dieme, commissioner for natural resources, environment and rural development, said.

The funding includes a loan for reforms in the security services, he told reporters in Bissau, the capital, yesterday.
