Ethanol Production in U.S. Rose 0.5% Last Week, DOE Says

Ethanol production in the U.S. rose 0.5 percent to 823,000 barrels a day last week, the highest level in seven weeks, the Energy Department said in a report today.

Output has rebounded 3.4 percent since falling to a two- year low on July 20. Stockpiles gained 0.3 percent to 18.5 million barrels, the department report showed, while imports tumbled 27 percent to 68,000 barrels a day.

Conventional gasoline blended with ethanol was steady at 5.42 million barrels per day.

Denatured ethanol for September delivery slipped 0.6 cent to $2.661 a gallon at 11:11 a.m. on the Chicago Board of Trade. Prices have gained 21 percent this year.
