Israel reported anthrax killed eight cattle on a farm in Hazafon, in the northern part of the country, according to a notification to the World Organization for Animal Health, or OIE.
The outbreak of the bacterial disease is the first in the country since 2009, and measures taken include movement controls and treatment of affected animals with penicillin, according to the notice published online by the Paris-based OIE. An estimated 174 cattle may be susceptible to the disease, it said.
