The U.S. Treasury Department confirmed today its Office of Foreign Assets Control is investigating Standard Chartered Plc for “potential Iran- related violations as well as a broader set of potential sanctions violations.”

The U.S. Treasury made the statement in a letter to the U.K. Treasury in London. The letter was obtained by Bloomberg News.

OFAC Director Adam Szubin said in the letter that ``we will continue to cooordinate with other federal and state agencies'' in the investigation.
