Egypt Buys 3.8 Million Tons of Wheat From Local Farmers

Egypt, the world’s biggest wheat importer, has bought 3.8 million metric tons of the grain from local farmers since the start of the harvest season.

The purchases were valued at 9.9 billion Egyptian pounds ($1.6 billion), Fathi Abdel al-Aziz, under-secretary at the Ministry of Supply and Internal Trade in Cairo, said by phone today.
