July 20, 2012

Warner Bros. said it won’t release the usual weekend box-office figures for “The Dark Knight Rises,” citing sensitivity to the victims of a shooting in Colorado at a screening of the film.

The Time Warner Inc (TWX).-owned film studio will report the numbers on Monday, July 23, it said in an e-mailed statement.

“Out of respect for the victims and their families, Warner Bros. Pictures will not be reporting box office numbers for ‘The Dark Knight Rises’ throughout the weekend,” Warner Bros. said. “Box office numbers will be released on Monday.”
