Polish Stocks: Ciech, PKO Bank, Polimex-Mostostal Are Active

Poland’s WIG20 Index (WIG20) climbed 0.6 percent to 2,198.92 at the close in Warsaw, the highest since July 11.

The following were among the most active stocks on the Warsaw Stock Exchange today. Stock symbols follow company names.

Ciech SA (CIE) , the country’s second-biggest chemicals maker, fell 3.5 percent to 18.3 zloty, the lowest in more than five weeks, after PAP newswire reported the company may write down as much as 450 million zloty ($133 million) in the second quarter.

PKO Bank Polski SA (PKO) , the nation’s biggest lender, added 0.3 percent to 32.8 zloty, rebounding from a 1.9 percent drop yesterday after the Treasury Ministry completed a sale of a minority stake to help finance its budget deficit.

Polimex-Mostostal SA (PXM) , slumped 7.6 percent to 0.61 zloty, an eight-year low, after Puls Biznesu newspaper reported Poland’s second-largest builder is still in talks about a four- month delay in paying back its debts.
