Chilean Stocks: Aquachile and Soc. Quimica & Minera Were Active

The following companies had unusual price changes in Chilean trading. Stock symbols are in parentheses, and prices are as of the close at 4:30 p.m. in Santiago.

The Ipsa index fell 0.3 percent to 4,392.84. The MSCI Chile index advanced 0.1 percent to 2,465.92.

Aquachile SA (AQUACHIL) , Chile’s biggest salmon exporter by revenue, fell 2.3 percent to 334.22 pesos after data showed Norwegian salmon export prices fell 2.9 percent last week.

Soc. Quimica & Minera de Chile SA (SQM/B CC), the country’s biggest fertilizer exporter, fell 1 percent to 28,698 pesos after Bloomberg News reported that Vale SA will sign an agreement today to proceed with a $5.9 billion potash project in Argentina. The Rio Colorado project will produce as much as 4.3 million metric tons of potash during 50 years, Vale said on April 25. SQM produces potash as well as iodine and lithium from salt flats in Chile’s Atacama desert.
