Coal export prices at South Africa’s Richards Bay, the continent’s biggest terminal for shipping the fuel, fell the most in almost 18 months.
Coal for immediate delivery lost $4.99, or 5.5 percent, to $85.50 a metric ton in the week ended July 13, according to IHS McCloskey data on Bloomberg. That’s the biggest decline since Jan. 21, 2011. The price is quoted on a free-on-board basis, which excludes delivery costs.
