Igor Sechin, the chief executive officer of OAO Rosneft, Russia’s biggest oil company, proposed former Energy Minister Sergei Shmatko to head an electricity distribution company being created from OAO MRSK Holding and Federal Grid Co., RBC Daily reported, citing an unidentified government official familiar with the matter.
Deputy Prime Minister Arkady Dvorkovich, who oversees the energy industry, is against Shmatko’s appointment, the person told RBC.
