The Tanzania Electric Supply Co. suspended Managing Director William Mhando and three other officers amid an investigation into embezzlement and abuse of office, the government said.
The board decided on the suspensions on July 14, January Makamba, deputy minister for communication, science and technology, said in an e-mail from Dar es Salaam, Tanzania’s commercial hub.
Mhando didn’t answer two calls to his mobile phone today seeking comment. The other officials suspended include the deputy managing director for corporate services, a finance officer and a procurement officer, according to Makamba.
