The benchmark BUX (BUX) index climbed 0.4 percent to 17,048.92 by 11:42 a.m. in Budapest, trimming its decline this week to 0.3 percent.

Egis Gyogyszergyar Nyrt. (EGIS) , a drugmaker, rose 0.9 percent to 15,280 forint. Erste Group Bank AG’s broker unit reiterated its buy rating for the stock, saying the shares remain undervalued with “favorable” fundamentals.
OTP Bank Nyrt. (OTP) , Hungary’s largest lender, rallied 1.1 percent to 3,445 forint. European stocks gained as China reported the slowest expansion in three years, fueling speculation policy makers will add to stimulus measures.
