The following companies had unusual price changes in Chilean trading. Stock symbols are in parentheses, and prices are as of the close in Santiago.
The Ipsa index rose 0.4 percent to 4,372.67. The MSCI Chile index (MXCL) advanced 1.2 percent to 2,434.88.
Besalco SA (BESALCO) increased 2.1 percent to 815.11 pesos, ending an eight-day losing streak. Banco Santander SA added Chile’s second-largest construction company to its list of favorite Chilean small-capitalization stocks.
E-CL SA (ECL) fell 1.3 percent to 1,118.3 pesos, its lowest closing price in 11 months. Northern Chile’s largest power generator was cut to hold from buy at BICE Inversiones.
Ripley Corp SA (RIPLEY) fell 2.4 percent to 439.7 pesos, its lowest price in nine months and leading losses among members of the Ipsa benchmark index. Banco Santander SA dropped the department store operator from its list of favorite Chilean stocks, saying it would be more affected than its peers by the government’s plan to cap consumer loan interest rates.
Sigdo Koppers SA (SK) advanced 3 percent to 1,180 pesos, the biggest increase in a month. Santiago-based brokerage IM Trust SA said yesterday it added the Chilean industrial holding company to its list of five favorite local stocks.
