Italy World Cup Winner Nesta Agreees to Join Montreal in MLS

Former Italy and AC Milan defender Alessandro Nesta agreed to a contract with the Montreal Impact of Major League Soccer.

Nesta, who won the World Cup with Italy in 2006, spent the past 10 seasons at Milan, helping the club win the Champions League in 2003 and 2007 and two Serie A titles. He’ll join Montreal upon receiving his international transfer certificate, the club said on its website.

The 36-year-old began his career with Lazio in 1993, winning the Serie A championship in 2000. He also played 78 times for Italy and appeared in three World Cups.
