MEXICO DAYBOOK: Pena Nieto Wins Election, May Remittances Report

Presidential candidate Enrique Pena Nieto won yesterday’s election, according to preliminary results. Mexico’s peso advanced 0.7 percent on the news as Pena Nieto has pledged to boost foreign direct investment and initiatives to make easier to hire and fire workers.

*The Federal Electoral Institute will continue releasing results from yesterday’s presidential, congressional and gubernatorial elections *2pm: Economy Minister Bruno Ferrari and Agriculture Minister Francisco Mayorga to speak in Mexico City about WTO ruling.

EQUITY:

*OHLMEX* MM rose 6.2% *ICA* MM rose 3.3% *LIVEPOLC MM rose 5.5% *AZTECACP MM rose 5.1% *GRUMAB MM fell 3.9%

MARKETS:

*Mexico IPC index rose 1.4 percent. *Peso appreciated 1.9 percent to 13.3608 per dollar on June 29. *MSCI (MXLA) Latin America Index rose 5 percent. *DJIA rose 2.2 percent. *S&P 500 rose 2.5 percent.
