German Parliament’s Lower House Approves Fiscal Pact

Germany’s lower house of parliament approved the European Union’s fiscal pact aimed at imposing budget discipline on EU member states. The measure won a two- thirds majority in the chamber, the Bundestag, with 491 lawmakers voting in favor, 111 voting against and six abstaining.
