Portuguese retail sales fell 3.7 percent in the first quarter from a year earlier, the Portuguese Association of Distribution Companies said.
Sales declined to 4.55 billion euros ($5.7 billion) in the first three months of the year from 4.73 billion euros, APED, which represents retailers in Portugal such as Jeronimo Martins SGPS SA (JMT)’s Pingo Doce unit and Sonae (SON) SGPS SA’s Continente supermarkets, said in an e-mailed statement today.
