VW to End Work Early for Germany-Greece Soccer Game, Bild Says

June 21, 2012

Volkswagen AG (VOW) will shut its German factories earlier than normal tomorrow, to let employees watch the European championship quarterfinal soccer match between Germany and Greece, Bild Zeitung reported.

The early closedown will affect the company’s headquarters in Wolfsburg and plants in Braunschweig, Emden, Hannover, Kassel, Salzgitter and Zwickau, the newspaper said. General Motors Co. (GM:US)’s German subsidiary, Opel, will end its evening shift two hours earlier, Bild reported.

At Daimler AG (DAI), the factories are free to decide whether to stop production before the usual time, the newspaper said.
