U.S. Stocks Extend Gains on Report Central Banks May Act

U.S. stocks extended gains after Reuters reported that central banks are prepared to coordinate actions if needed to boost liquidity in financial markets.

The Standard & Poor’s 500 Index rallied 1.1 percent to 1,329.84 at 3:11 p.m. in New York.
