The pace of growth in global greenhouse-gas emissions from energy use slowed to 3 percent last year from 5 percent in 2010, according to BP Plc. (BP/)
Emissions rose to 34.03 billion metric tons of carbon dioxide in 2011 from 33.04 billion tons a year earlier, the London-based oil producer said today in a spreadsheet of its annual statistical review of world energy published on its website.
China’s emissions surged 9.4 percent last year, while the European Union’s dropped 2.8 percent and North American discharges declined 1.3 percent, BP said.
