Shares of the following companies had unusual moves in Taiwan trading. Stock symbols are in parentheses and prices are as of the close in Taipei.
The benchmark Taiex Index fell 0.7 percent to 7,072.08.
Acer Inc. (2353) (2353 TT), the island’s largest computer maker, rose 1.3 percent to NT$30.70. The company had sales of NT$32.1 billion ($1 billion) in May, higher than April’s sales of NT$25.3 billion, according to a statement to the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
Cnet Technology Inc. (5306 TT), increased 1.1 percent to NT$54.40, the highest close since Aug. 30, 2002. The network product maker said May sales surged to NT$61.4 million from NT$11.6 million a year earlier, according to a statement to the Taiwan exchange.
Formosa Chemicals & Fibre Corp. (1326) (1326 TT), a petrochemical products maker, fell 1.2 percent to NT$74.60. The company was lowered to hold from buy at Deutsche Bank AG.
