Maria Sharapova Wins French Open First Set Over Italy’s Errani

Maria Sharapova won the first set in her French Open tennis final against Italy’s Sara Errani as the Russian tries to win her first title at Roland Garros and complete the career Grand Slam.

Sharapova, the No. 2 seed, took the set 6-3. She got off to a quick start, leading No. 21 Errani 3-0 after the first 8 minutes of the match. Errani got it to 4-2. Sharapova held at love, and had two set points, but couldn’t win them. She served out the set.

The Russian has lost just 1 set so far in the Paris tournament.
