June 8 (Bloomberg) --The Canadian government named Jean- Pierre Blais as chairman of the country’s telecommunications and broadcasting regulator.
Blais, a former official at the Heritage Department, will take over on June 18 as chairman of the Canadian Radio- television and Telecommunications Commission for a five-year term, the government said in a statement today on Prime Minister Stephen Harper’s website.
Len Katz had been serving as interim chairman after the five-year term of Konrad von Finckenstain ended in January.
