Russia Protests Libya Prison Sentences, Foreign Ministry Says

Russia handed a note of protest to Libya’s charge d’affaires over a court-martial verdict brought in June 4 in Tripoli against two Russian citizens, the Foreign Affairs Ministry said in a statement on website today.

Russian citizens Alexander Shadrov and Vladimir Dolgov were convicted by a Libyan court on June 4 of cooperating with the Muammar Gaddafi regime, Interfax reported. Shadrov received a life sentence, while Dolgov was given a 10-year prison term, according to the news service.
