European Union Industry Commissioner Antonio Tajani will present a report on the European car industry tomorrow proposing lighter carbon-dioxide output reduction targets, alleviating German industry concerns, the German newspaper Die Welt reported.
More flexibility should be applied in measuring progress toward CO2 reductions, reflecting national infrastructure and driver behavior, the newspaper said, citing the report it has obtained.
The report provides “good impetus for the strengthening of the European car industry in global competition,” Matthias Wissmann, head of the VDA association of German carmakers, told the newspaper.
