June 01, 2012

Zambian police arrested the son of former President Rupiah Banda on suspicion of soliciting a bribe from an Italian construction company, police spokeswoman Namukolo Kasumpa said.

Andrew Banda has been charged with “corrupt practices and being in possession of property suspected to be the proceeds of a crime,” Kasumpa said today in phone interview from Lusaka, the capital. He was released on bail, she said.
