Mauritius Sugar Output to Decline in 2012, l’Express Says

June 01, 2012

Mauritius’s sugar production in 2012 will be lower than last year’s 435,000 metric tons, l’Express reported, without saying where it obtained the information.

Unsuitable climatic conditions and a decline in land area under cane cultivation are the main reasons cited for the decline, the Port Louis-based newspaper said.
