Brazil’s First Quarter Economy Climbs 0.2% From Previous Quarter

Brazil’s economy expanded 0.2 percent in the first quarter from the previous quarter, the national statistics agency said today in Rio de Janeiro.

Gross domestic product grew 0.8 percent from a year earlier.

Analysts had forecast year-on-year expansion of 1.3 percent and growth of 0.5 percent compared with the fourth quarter, according to the median estimates from economists surveyed by Bloomberg.
