Hungary Stocks: Magyar Telekom, OTP Bank Move in Budapest Trade

May 29, 2012

The benchmark BUX (BUX) index rose 0.5 percent to 16,492.86 by the close in Budapest.

The following were among the most active shares in the Hungarian market today. Stock symbols follow company names.

OTP Bank Nyrt. (OTP) , the country’s largest lender, climbed 1.9 percent to 3,585 forint on the first trading day after a three-day weekend in Hungary. Demand for riskier assets increased as data showing stabilization in the U.S. housing market increased bets on a recovery in the global economy.

Magyar Telekom Nyrt. (MTELEKOM HB), the Hungarian unit of Deutsche Telekom AG, fell for the first time in three days as Hungary’s economic sentiment index slid the most since 2008. The shares retreated 1.6 percent to 429 forint.
