CBS Claims Victory for TV Season With Most Viewers, Wider Margin

CBS Corp. (CBS:US) said it won the ratings race for the 2011-2012 prime-time TV season, averaging 11.7 million viewers a night and leading the second-place finisher, Fox, by the largest margin in 23 years.

The CBS network, based in New York, said it won the ratings for the ninth time in the past 10 years, according to an e- mailed statement today. The network came in second place to News Corp. (NWSA:US)’s Fox in the 18-to-49-year-old group that advertisers target, according to the statement.
