West Ham defeated Blackpool 2-1 to win promotion back to English soccer’s Premier League.
Ricardo Vaz Te’s goal in the 87th minute won the Championship playoff final at Wembley Stadium in London. Carlton Cole also scored for West Ham and Thomas Ince had the Blackpool goal.
West Ham’s victory is worth at least 90 million pounds ($142 million) in television rights and other financial payments from the Premier League, accountant Deloitte LLP estimates. The Hammers were relegated to the second tier last season after finishing last in the Premier League.
