May 16, 2012

The following companies had unusual price changes in Mexico City trading. Stock symbols are in parentheses, and prices are as the close of trading.

The IPC index fell 1.1 percent to 37,511.08.

Coca-Cola Femsa SAB (KOFL) , Latin America’s largest bottler of the soft drink, climbed 6.2 percent to 154.11 pesos. A rebalancing of the MSCI Inc. indexes will give Coca-Cola Femsa a greater weighting, spurring gains in the stock, said Carolina Alvear, a spokeswoman for Coca-Cola Femsa, in an e-mailed response to questions.

Grupo Elektra SA (ELEKTRA*) , the retail and banking company controlled by billionaire Ricardo Salinas, tumbled 10.4 percent to 578.90 pesos. MSCI Inc. said it will remove Elektra from its indexes effective May 31, according to a statement posted yesterday on its website.

Urbi Desarrollos Urbanos SAB (URBI*) , Mexico’s third- largest homebuilder by sales, fell 3.9 percent to 11.55 pesos. Urbi is also leaving the index, according to MSCI.
