Chilean Stocks: Aguas Andinas, Iansa and Quinenco Were Active

The following companies had unusual price changes in Chilean trading. Stock symbols are in parentheses, and prices are as of the close in Santiago.

The Ipsa index fell 1 percent to 4,313.70. The MSCI Chile index (MXCL) retreated 1.9 percent to 2,346.75.

Aguas Andinas SA (AGUAS/A) (AGUAS/A CC) retreated 0.1 percent to 318.76 pesos after rising as much as 3.4 percent. Volume traded was more than four times the average of the last three months. Chile’s largest water utility was added to the MSCI Latin America index, according to a statement posted yesterday on MSCI Inc’s website.

Empresas Iansa SA (IANSA) advanced 1.6 percent to 38.81 pesos, a second day of gains. Chile’s largest sugar producer will pay $12.8 million to increase its stake in Patagoniafresh SA, a fruit juice producer, to 100 percent, it said in a statement yesterday.

Quinenco SA (QUINENC) fell 2.7 percent to 1,431 pesos. Volume traded reached more than four times the average of the last three months. The holding company controlled by the local Luksic family, Chile’s wealthiest, will appeal a ruling from the antitrust tribunal that blocked the acquisition of Organizacion Terpel SA’s service stations in the country, it said yesterday in an e-mailed statement.
