Hungary’s Varga May Succeed Simor as Central Bank Head, Nol Says

Mihaly Varga, Hungary’s recently appointed chief negotiator with the International Monetary Fund and the European Union may succeed Andras Simor as president of the central bank when Simor’s term ends in March, news Website Nol said, citing an unidentified government official.

Varga may be slated to become finance minister should Prime Minister Viktor Orban decide to set up an independent Finance Ministry, which is “doubtful,” Nol cited the official as saying.
