Shares of the following companies had unusual moves in Thailand trading. Stock symbols are in parentheses and prices are as of the close in Bangkok. The SET Index (SET) fell 1.1 percent to 1,171.23.
MSCI-related stocks: Siam Cement Pcl (SCC) gained 1.5 percent to 344 baht, the largest increase since April 26, after it was included in the MSCI Thailand Index.
Home Product Center Pcl (HMPRO) dropped 4.7 percent to 12.10 baht, the lowest close since March 5. Siam Makro Pcl (MAKRO) slid 5.4 percent to 367 baht. Siam City Cement Pcl (SCCC) declined 1.3 percent to 308 baht. Thai Union Frozen Products Pcl (TUF) lost 3.9 percent to 74 baht.
The companies’ shares will be excluded from MSCI Global Small Cap Indices for Thailand. The changes will take place as of the close of trading on May 31.
Oil companies: PTT Pcl (PTT) , Thailand’s biggest company, decreased 1.2 percent to 331 baht. PTT Exploration & Production Pcl (PTTEP) , the country’s only publicly traded oil explorer, lost 1.7 percent to 170.50 baht.
Crude for June delivery decreased for a fourth day, losing as much as 2.3 percent to $91.81 a barrel in New York.
Siam Inter Multimedia Pcl (SMM) , a publisher and radio program producer, surged by a daily limit of 30 percent to 1.09 baht. Profit in the first quarter jumped to 16.8 million baht ($534,011), compared with 2.82 million baht a year earlier.
Thoresen Thai Agencies Pcl (TTA) , a shipping company, lost 2.8 percent to 17.40 baht, the lowest close since Nov. 29. Its net loss in the quarter ended March 31 widened to 205.4 million baht from 118.5 million a year earlier.
