Suffolk Regional Off-Track Betting Corp. filed for court protection under Chapter 9 today in U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Central Islip, New York, saying it owed creditors more than $10 million.

Chapter 9 bankruptcy allows municipalities to reorganize rather than liquidate.
