Prime Minister Mario Monti said there are no longer any obstacles to starting talks on tax and financial issues with Switzerland.
Monti, speaking at a press conference in Rome today, said he will soon meet with Swiss President Eveline Widmer-Schlumpf to discuss the matter.
He said previous obtacles to such talks included a review by the European Union on tax agreements between member states and Switzerland and Swiss rules on Italian citizens working in the Alpine country.
