Argentina Stocks: Banco Macro, Central Puerto Were Active

The following companies had unusual price changes in Argentine trading. Stock symbols are in parentheses, and share prices are as of the close in Buenos Aires. The Merval (MERVAL) Index fell 0.1 percent to 2,304.61.

Central Puerto SA (CEPU2) (CEPU2 AF) fell 8.9 percent to 12.30 pesos after sliding 10 percent yesterday for the biggest two-day drop since 2004 The power generator tumbled after reporting a loss of 6.6 million pesos ($1.5 million) after a profit of 52.3 million pesos a year earlier.

Banco Macro SA (BMA) rallied 2.6 percent to 8.96 pesos. Argentina’s largest lender by market share said first-quarter profit rose 26 percent from a year earlier to 324 million pesos.
