Hungary’s benchmark BUX (BUX) index rose 0.8 percent to 17,361.38 by the close in Budapest.

Gedeon Richter Nyrt. (RICHT) rebounded from a 3 1/2- month low after the biggest drugmaker in Hungary said its first- quarter profit jumped 50 percent from a year earlier. The stock rose 1.7 percent to 36,715 forint after sliding 3.6 percent in the previous two sessions to the lowest price since Jan. 25.
Magyar Telekom Nyrt. (MTELEKOM HB), the Hungarian unit of Deutsche Telekom AG, slumped as much as 1.5 percent and last traded 0.2 percent lower at 465 forint, the weakest close on record. First quarter net income fell 14 percent, the company said today, one day after the government approved a tax on telephone calls.
