The following companies’ shares may have unusual moves in European (SXXP) trading. Stock symbols are in parentheses.
The Stoxx Europe 600 Index rose 0.6 percent to 251.10. The Stoxx 50 Index (SX5P) increased 0.4 percent to 2,352.45. The Euro Stoxx 50 Index (SX5E), a benchmark measure for nations using the euro, gained 1 percent to 2,247.38.
EDP-Energias de Portugal SA (EDP PL): Portugal’s biggest utility said first-quarter profit fell 1.5 percent as operating costs increased. The shares increased 1.2 percent to 2.27 euros.
Enel SpA (ENEL) : Italy’s biggest utility posted a 1.4 percent drop in first-quarter profit because of higher taxes and lower power-generation margins. The shares climbed 2.1 percent to 2.48 euros.
Fresenius SE (FRE GY): The German health-care company said tis management board resolved to issue 13.8 million new ordinary shares with a total value of around 1 billion euros to finance the planned acquisition of Rhoen-Klinikum AG (RHK) . Fresenius rose 0.7 percent to 77.71 euros. Rhoen-Klinikum fell 0.5 percent to 21.07 euros.
